International staff week 2011

From 3 October to 7 October 2011,  the UvA organised its first International Staff week. During this week internationalisation professionals from all over the world discussed, learned and shared ideas on this years theme: 'Expectation management.; communication with international students.'

Possibility for staff exchange at the UvA

The UvA organises international staff weeks to give international colleagues the opportunity to transfer skills and knowledge and to share best practices.

The international staff weeks are usually organised in the Autumn (October/November) or Spring (April/May).

Programme

The programme is highly interactive. It explores a theme and several sub-themes, which gives the participants the opportunity to discuss a topic in depth.

An important part of the programme is the opportunity for participants to set their own learning goals for the week. Participants can choose to develop their presentations skills or increase their organisational skills, develop cultural awareness or communication skills.

The programme is highly interactive and combines presentations with group work and the opportunity for personalised assignments.

There will also be the possibility to participate in various social and cultural activities in Amsterdam.

Target audience

We are looking for participants with a minimum of 2 to 3 years experience in international education. We welcome staff from a wide variety of professions, such as international and admission officers, communication experts and teachers.

In order to ensure a diverse and international group, the maximum number of participants per institution is three. The international staff week aims to create an interactive learning environment in which all participants will contribute.
