New employer

In the event that you transfer to another Dutch employer, and possess a valid residence permit, your permit will usually remain valid. Your new employer needs to inform the IND concerning your transfer.

Change in purpose of stay

There are cases where your residence permit will have to be extended, while the purpose of your stay changed since your arrival. For example, when your paid position at the UvA has ended but you will continue doing research funded by your own means.

Extending your residence permit

As a rule your residence permit is issued for the period of your stay at the UvA. In individual cases, you may wish to stay longer than planned (for example to complete your project). Before the actual expiration date of your permit, you can (and should!) apply for an extension.
