Deregistration

You will have to deregister yourself and your family members from the Municipal Personal Records Database (GBA). This means the municipality will remove your personal details from the files.

Bank account

Some Dutch banks have offices in many countries, while others focus their business only on the Netherlands. Ask your bank if there are possibilities to continue operating your account in your new country and what services will be available in the new country.

Taxation

If you repatriate or move to another country this is usually regarded as emigration. However, there are situations in which you would not be deemed to have emigrated, at least not for tax purposes.

Health insurance

When you live in the Netherlands, you are in most cases compulsorily insured for a basic package that covers essential healthcare. After leaving the country this insurance will usually end.

Departure checklist

Before your departure, there are many things that need to be arranged or dealt with. A good checklist covering everything that needs to be done before you leave can be very helpful at this time.
